Ambassador Willem Wouter Plomp was born in 1962 and raised close to Leiden, the Netherlands. He is married to Ms. Henriette Suzanne Winkler and have 5 children. He attended the University of Utrecht for both his undergraduate and post-graduate studies in History (BA) Contemporary History and Law (MA) International Law. He has more than 35 years of service at the Dutch Foreign Ministry, having served between 1989 and 2005, in Embassies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Warsaw, Prague and Guatemala, as well as in the Security and the Human Rights Department. Since 2009 he served as Ambassador in Benin, Deputy Head of Mission in Indonesia, in North Macedonia, Pakistan, Nigeria and since 2024 in Cyprus.
