Aimilia Pistrika, has over a decade of professional experience from the EIB’s headquarters in Luxembourg, with a background in Civil Engineering specialised in the water sector and climate finance. She was the technical responsible senior officer for the EIB water project portfolio both inside EU (the Netherlands, Scadinavian region, Greece, Cyprus) and outside EU (Turkey, Southeast Asia). Moreover, she was actively involved in key horizontal initiatives on Blue Economy and Climate Adaptation within the Group and in collaboration with other international financial institutions, the European Commission, and several not-for-profit international organizations. Aimilia has represented the EIBG for over two years at the Platform on Sustainable Finance of the European Commission (EU Taxonomy) for flood protection and nature- based solutions. Before joining the European Investment Bank, she worked in the private sector providing technical support to water projects in Africa financed by the World Bank and she was also involved in the implementation of the Water Framework and Floods Directives for Greece and Cyprus. She holds a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens in cooperation with the Delft University in the Netherlands, and an MSc from the Imperial College London in the UK.
Aimilia Pistrika has been appointed as the new Head of the EIBG Office in Cyprus, effective as of September 1st. In her new role, she will coordinate the EIB Group’s efforts to support transformative projects across Cyprus and represent the Group at key institutional events.
