Laura Hetel is a policy officer in DG Research & Innovation of the European Commission where she works on the implementation of the EU Cities Mission. She also coordinates the international outreach of the Cities Mission, including for the Urban Transitions Mission and in collaboration with the Global Covenant of Mayors. In her previous roles in the Commission, she worked on international cooperation in the Mediterranean region, science diplomacy, socio-economic transformations, cultural heritage and migration. With an educational background on political science and economics, she holds a PhD on the interplay between consumerism and national identity from The Ohio State University, US.
