Maria Englezou

Transition Officer, Municipality of Limassol

Dr. Maria Englezou is an architect and researcher specializing in sustainable and climate-responsive building design. She currently serves as an Officer at the Transition Office for Climate Neutrality of the Limassol Municipality, contributing to the implementation of the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities and supporting the development of large-scale decarbonization initiatives across urban systems. Her research and professional work focus on bioclimatic architecture, energy-efficient buildings, daylighting, and human-centered environmental design. She holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Cyprus, an MSc in Sustainable Architecture Studies from the University of Sheffield, and a Master in Architecture Engineering from the University of Thessaly. Dr. Englezou has received numerous international recognitions, scholarships, and awards for her academic and professional contributions, including being named SLL Young Lighter 2021 and being listed among the Global 200 Women Power Leaders 2025. She is actively engaged in international professional networks related to sustainable design and lighting research and has teaching experience in architecture and environmental design at university level.
